There are a lot of HD collections coming out lately, but what about the games that stand alone? The original titles and one-offs? There are some great games that, for one reason or another, weren't fortunate enough to be part of/turned into a franchise. So, instead of a collection, tell me about three original, unconnected titles you would like to see re-released in HD. I'll start
- Viewtiful Joe
I loved Viewtiful Joe from the moment I started it. I was incredible fun, beautiful to look at and very clever and well-designed (apart from the "ZOMG fight like ten bosses in a row!!" ending). As a two-dimensional action-game, VJ was already old-school the moment it released. Today, there are titles in that genre all over XBLA and PSN. I'm sure it would be a hit. And the graphics! Think of the graphics!
- American McGee's Alice
The sequel to Alice is one of my most anticaped games of the year. It's apparently very focused on it's narrative though (which I love when games do), but I haven't played the first. It was a PC exlusive released in 2000. Why not convert the graphics to HD and throw in on PSN/XBLA?
- Final Fantasy VIII
I know, I know. "But FF is a major franchise!" Yeah, but if SE ever does decide to remake one of the PS1 games, they would only do one; I'm certain of that. As indifferent to the game as I am, it would probably be FFVII also.
I've never played FFVIII. The premise of the plot sounds more interesting to me than FFVII or even FFIX. I have however read quite a bit about the game and if popular opinion is to be believed, perhaps SE could muck around with that battle system a bit while redoing those graphics. It'll probably never happen, but I want it to.
Now, go! Commence the sharing of opinions!!

it while you can."
