Spyro the dragon a classic PlayStation icon. Back in the day on the PS1 Spyro was my favorite game series. My favorite character in the Spyro game series was hunter the cheetah which is ironic because that is where the "hunter" in my username comes from.

If you haven't read up on the recent news of a new Spyro game well there is one. Before you put a smile on and get excited, Activision is the one publishing this game and they really messed this franchise up.






The game features 30 characters, but what Activision is doing, there including three action figures and a so called "Portal of Power" which allows you to put your action figures into the game. If you get tired of these three character you can buy a new set at Toys R Us because that is the only place there selling these action figure.

This game isn't really dark like the recent spyro games more cartoonie and happy. Spyro is just there just to make the game look good and sell. This game is really is more like a "Mario Party" type of game.

If I had to guess this game is for 6-12 year olds. I don't see someone who played Spyro the dragon from the beginning loving this game. In my opinion I think Activision had ruined a great game series.

Man, I miss Spyro 2. Wasn't keen on any of the PS2 games to be honest.

This is odd, it's obviously more about the gimmick of using action figures in games but yeah, it looks like it'll appeal more to my 11 y/o brother. Nice enough idea but throwing Spyro in there for the sake of the name is a bit off.

Spyro died when Insomniac sold the rights of the IP :'(

The PSOne titles shall forever remain as classics in my heart <3 If I had my own PSP I'd totally by them on the PS Store and play them to death!

I would say that Dawn of the Dragon was pretty decent though, I enjoyed it but got stuck at a certain point, I haven't gone back to finish it yet XD

@Dreams Well if this game didn't have Spyro in it. This game would just be sad way of selling action figures, but when have a game icon in it people are going to look at your game differently.

@thefenrir Well you gotta say that the PS2 games for Spyro were pretty entertaining. My favorite was a Hero's tail because it had some classic characters from the PS1 games and some new ones. This game takes the idea of Spyro and exploits it just to make more money.

You know... I think that the new Spyro games are the main reason why we might not get a HD collection any time soon.

If people play the older games, they'll realise just HOW crappy the new ones are. XD

I only had one favorite out of all the spyro games on the ps2, so it wouldn't really be a good idea. Don't get me wrong the lengend of spyro series was good but not good enough to be put into an HD collection.

The first three that were on PSX (Released from 1998-2000) were brilliant, and were the ones I was referring to for a HD collection.

Oh I always thought HD collections were for the games on the PS2. To port PS2 games into HD quality for the PS3 is much easier than porting a PS1 game.

Even if they did that it would seem pretty pointless since the first 3 spyro games are ready for download on the PSN and at a pretty cheap price for each of them.

They may not be HD but when you play them you can get that nostalgic feeling of when you first played them.

Well, the series we all know and love is gone. I say it's just another cash cow for Activision but maybe young kids will find this fun so it's not completely evil, IMO.
