Quote:There is no denying that Nintendo's showing at E3 was a massive disappointment, or at the very least, ridiculous confusing. Considering how high of a bar they set set for themselves in the fields of innovation and their history with industry-changing peripherals, it's a wonder they thought it would be possible to get away with showing a controller without a system as their big announcement. A controller that, mind you, while relatively advanced won't be showing up on store shelves anytime soon. Without a single major announcement for their existing system, let alone the new one, and a series of titles that really should've launched alongside the 3DS, is it really any surprise that Nintendo's stock fell to the lowest its been in five years just moments after their press conference?

Sigh... Nintendo... when will I stop facepalming at you?

Really, it doesn't surprise me that their stocks have fallen the lowest in 5 years. Ironic how that's about when the Wii released.

I thought presentation was for the Wii U was poor as well, when I first watched it. I was first turned off by the new name for it. Which I thought was awful. Then at the image of just the controller being shown. I was confused at whether there this just new Wii peripheral or if this entirely new console as well.

Unlike with the 3DS last year, they also didn't any announce any third party exclusives. So I don't have an incentive to get a another console for $300 or more, just for different gameplay experience. The controller device looks cool, but I"m not sure if I want to play all my games that way. So it's really no shock, how their investors reacted.

Nintendo screwed up this year...You shouldn't say something is innovative if you don't have the proof...Everyone can Ooo and Ahhh but when it gets right down to it, proof is proof, and Nintendo didn't have much of that. They need more time, and they have every chance of making Wii U successful, but not at this time...

They did not have that at the press conference, but it's a different story once you get your hands on the device. Wink

The problem is that the majority of gamers didn't get their hands on the device. I have no doubt (actually I do, but that's not the point) that Nintendo showed off proof, but the majority of us can't really view it...

Perhaps once the public gets their hands on the WiiU, the naysayers may sing a different tune. However, even considering the potential of the WiiU, many gamers like myself are wondering what real reason, outside from first party titles, should we consider getting a console that's roughly on par with or a little more powerful than the 360 and the PS3 on a tech level, when all the third party games Nintendo is swinging before our noses, are already launched months on other consoles. There is also speculation that with a simple firmware, RemotePlay functions with the Vita and PS3 could easily emulate the function of the WiiU controller, and a whole twelve months in advance. Then there are rumors of Microsoft's and Sony's new console being in development as we speak. As hardcore, we tend to look forward like the latest and newest in tech, graphics and otherwise, and that might draw their attention away from the WiiU.
