That's not a jetpack, it's a low gravity thruster, all Spartans had them and if I can remember correctly he's used it before. Also, that "explosive pistol" if you look closely appears to be a standard magnum with an attachment.

I think I read somewhere that the Forerunners were in fact pacifists so I would like to see where 343 are going to take this...

You are clearly my better when it comes to Halo lore, and for that I salute you. Even still, 343 have me tentative regarding the series.

well, the only thing that fans will be seeing this new trilogy as is a gamble, 343 are going to try and expand the series at a maximum risk of possibly defacing the franchise or they are going to make it even better than ever, I'm hoping for the latter
