How exactly would you dumb down the game anyway? Oblivion wasn't exactly complicated in terms of story, gameplay or leveling up

Linear storyline, no dungeons, no sidequests? Basically take everything Elder Scrolls games are and negate them, and that would make it a dumbed down modern game.

Or they could make it a military shooter.

Elder Scrolls games shouldn't be about complexity, more about substance. And for completionists, Oblivion had about 100 hours of substance. (dumbing it down would demand an 8 hours story, and a multiplayer mode)
