I probably let slip a few times in my posts that I'm working on my own podcast, which should hopefully be ready to launch next month. We were hoping to have more content to start off with, but I think the first episode will just short to establish the things to come, then ep2 will be our discussion of our experience at the Toronto Fan Expo.

The general premiss of the show is to critically discuss matters in the artist world and give our own impressions. Myself, as well as 3 others (Graphic Designers) will occasionally be joined by a BFA in classic arts and sculpture, 2 Illustrators, a critic of independent music, 2 possible musicians, and maybe some interviews with higher up RGD members. Eventually we would like to get interviews on the show, but that will come with time.

That said, I would like to get get some advice and later some feedback on how to produce a good show. I've been fallowing the "FF Union" and "Gaming Music FM" for inspiration on this side, as well as other online shows like, "Over Clocked After Dark", "Anime TV" and "Extra Credits". So any advice you guys feel you can share, I thank you for it.

First of all... Practice makes perfect. Every time that you record and edit a show, make sure that you listen to it back once it's done. Through listening to it as an audience member, you'll be able to see what works and what needs to be adjusted.

Secondly... And I cannot stress this enough: OUTLINES. You don't need to script your show because that'll make it very stale sounding, but you need to figure out a structure to the show, including the topics you're gonna touch on, etc, otherwise you'll find yourself straying from the point too much and have a very flaky show indeed. Smile

Good luck! Let us know when your first show is out. Big Grin

Try not to go off on tangents. The odd one or two here and there is okay, but for example, if you're supposed to be talking about the Wii U, say, and you end up talking about what toothpaste you use (random, I know), you know you've gone off on one.

Also, try not to repeat yourself. Stressing your point/opinion, is okay, for example, if the opportunity arises to make your point again, then do so. But, there is nothing more boring than listening to someone go over the same thing for a third, fourth and fifth time, etc.

Finally, be confident. Don't sound like your nervous (not that you would be, necessarily), but sound like you know what your doing, even if you don't. Something people don't really want is massive pauses because you don't know or have forgotten what to say. (I am aware, you can edit any long pauses out. Just saying Smile)

Good Luck! And like Clo says, be sure to let us know when it is out.

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did." - T.E Lawrence

Thanks, a lot. Anything and everything is helpful at this stage. Structure is one big aspect that has been looming over this project; we have so many ideas, trying to find place for all of them is going to be impossible in just one show, so I'm thinking of grouping the categories in such a way that certain topics will be together. This will probably mean spitting out shorter, but double the episodes, since my schedule only allows me two weekend a month off for recording or filming.

Sounds interesting! Personally I would have put the "What we have been doing" closer to the end of the show, but that's just my opinion Smile Are you and the hosts going to be people known to GU?

We've changed the format around since my last post, which seem to work so far. First episode is in the final stages of editing, which has taken longer then expected with me work, FanExpo, and being sick, just haven't done much. But never the less it should air on youtube within in the next few weeks if all goes well. as for your question, only I'm from GU, everyone else are people I've met in the arts community; maybe once we've got a few episodes in, we'll try to have guest host come on, hopefully from GU and other sites.
