I wonder if he was referring to 'Nomura's cave' when he mentioned a lack of social skills. XD

It sounds like he may be exaggerating somewhat there, a lot of Japanese games are extremely imaginative in terms of art and setting. I think maybe they lack creativity in the gameplay department, but that is down to opinion too.

I agree with gilburtgtr. But that may be a misconception coming from me personally as I don't see a tiny portion of their many many titles that never hit US shores. But at the same time, what is Itagaki's legacy? Dead or Alive rehashes and Ninja Gaiden rehashes? That's not really creativity and ingenuity I'm sorry.

I think the gaming community has different views of advancement. My personal opinion is that America seems to spew out FPS/TPS after FPS/TPS, and that's why I seek Japan for games generally. While others see the differences in each CoD and love it.

This is like the Pot calling the Kettle black.

What can we do, Itagaki loves to give his opinion. Time to move on.

I bet Chuck Norris could fix this.

Haha, Chuck Norris can fix anything.

To a certain degree, I feel that he is right. Just look at Capcom, they're so afraid of taking any creative risks.

Ninja Gaiden and DoA may have a ton of rehashes (although I think that's a hyperbole in comparison to other games), but don't forget that he came up with them. It's not like they've seen annual releases like CoD either.

Oh I loved NG and DOA, don't get me wrong (well the first ones anyhow). But my point is they weren't innovations in the gaming world. I guess my question is, does he mean creativity and ingenuity as in new engines and gameplay mechanics, or does he mean story and worlds? Because he managed the second, but not the first.
