I guess it has something to do with your own personality or preferences. I happen to really like all of these characters, (Especially Selphie! Vanille not so much...) but Squall happens to be my favorite character (I wonder how that works out...) I think a lot of it has to do with the game you played first as well. I think I happen to like Yuffie and all of these characters because I played KH first ( excluding Vanille). I have not played FFVII yet so I know little about her devious endeavors, but when I do play, it probably won't change how I view her. *shrugs* I think it really does have a lot to do with what you played first.

I think Lexincora hit the nail on the head. A good bit of choice of likes or dislikes of characters have to do with one's own personality. And everyone's personality is different. Some personalities clash with others. It's just like if you walk into a new grade of school or a party, you feel out the room for personalities that you connect with. A timid person may not like to go towards that group of loud people.
