I am a South Indian, and come from a family of Kannadigas. We speak the language called Kannada, not pronounced like the country Canada. I'm also currently learning Hindi. I take Spanish at school, and plan to take up German after I finish Hindi.

hmmmm don't think I've seen a thread like this. Interesting idea. Well for me, I speak English mostly, but I do speak decent/fluent Korean which I use at home with my parents or with other adults I meet. I take Spanish at school and I can speak decently but not at the speed of natural speakers.

i speak portuguese and english mostly, i know spanish too although i almost never speak in spanish, just in some rare ocasions, i know a bit of french too, but not enough to make a decent dialogue xD

I speak English predominantly (as one would expect given that I am English), but I also speak decent French - at least enough to get by on a holiday. I would love to learn Japanese though, or Mandarin, but I do not have the time for that kind of frivolity currently!

Wow, that's a lot of languages you know :D. If you ever visit Gothenburg, there's a place called "Språkcaféet" ("The Language Café"). They have theme nights where people come to speak different languages at different tables. Probably there's something like that a lot closer to you though :P.

My primary languages are Swedish and Norwegian. They are very closely related though, so you can speak Swedish in Norway (and vice versa) and people will understand you (for the most part :P).

And if you ever wondered what Norwegian sounds like...

Nim bashe thumba chenna githe. That means, "Your language is very good." in Kannada, in lack of the knowledge of the word for "cool." It's kinda of an old language, so it's likely they're isn't one.

Ooooh i like this thread! ^.^ Lets see now.... English is my first language.. I can speak Arabic (learned it at home myself, esp when you have family members who can only speak that language and no english...). I can speak Spanish as well, learned it at school, and according to other people, I'm fluent (idk about that ) but thanks to speaking arabic, my pernounciation is so good that that (and my physical appearance) makes me seem native (even tho im definitely not!! XP). Wish i could know Japanese... ;.; and the next language i want to learn is French.
