I heard about these online passes, this impacts used game sales/piracy. If used game buyers want to play multiplayer they are going to have to pay a fee. Piracy however I'm not going down that road.

While new game owners will be able to access the multiplayer by receiving a code in there new game purchase. In a sense this online pass will be like downloading DLC, its automatically added into the game after downloading.

If you think about it, its a pretty smart move on Sony's part. I don't know if they will be doing this just for Exclusives, multi-platform games or both maybe.

Doing it for multi-platform games would be a mistake, people would just buy for the other console.

I think this sucks. I can understand some incentive to buy new games, like Mass Effect 2's DLC extra stuff, but removing an entire game mode seems a bit much to me - especially as they have been plugging the UC3 multiplayer pretty hard. Publishers forget that the stores that sell their new games also need the money from used sales as well; many entertainment shops have had to close down during the recession, and we don't have the infrastructure to go download only yet.

Edit: It matters not to me personally, of course, I'll be buying it new day one.
