Right, as part of a feature we're doing this week, we're gonna ask all of you to tell us who you think is the most manly men in video game history. It can be from any video game from any generation, so long as you can tell us who and why they are manly in a paragraph or two.

By the end of the week, we'll do a user's choice man list. Wink

My choice would be Big Boss from the Metal Gear Solid saga. What has he done to be deemed manly? He singlehandedly infiltrated Russia, defeated the Cobra Unit, Volgin and The Boss. He took down the Shagohod and all of its incarnations, built his own army which eventually became Outer Heaven, plus Solid Snake 'killed him' twice and he still managed to survive.

...And he smokes a cigar.

among the same vein as Colin, I agree and am adding Solid Snake.

Snake's badassery and manliness can be summed up in MGS1, but why do we need to leave it at that? I mean, Sure, in MGS1 he took out a tank with nothing but grenades, and then single-handedly destroyed not 1 but 3 Hind Ds (that's spanning across MG1,2 and MGS1) But then again, what do you expect from the ultimate soldier? That's only the badassery of the first 3 games in the series, and not even talking about how he twice defeated Big Boss.
What of the other games? well, MGS2, he survived a sinking ship (with an incapacitated survivor) he got a massive wound which barely seemed to effect him, and he was just badass!
In MGS4, c'mon, he's an old man and some how he's even more badass? going so far as surviving through microwaves? can you get a more manly man then Solid Snake?

I'm gonna say Captain Price from the COD: Modern Warfare series. He's a tough SOB, surviving the gulag, the villains of the MW series, and managing to help a hurt comrade survive a chase...Not to mention, he has a good beard...And he does love his cigars...I'm surprised he is still alive after all he's been through...

hmmm...I gotta say Ezio Auditore for sure. Ezio has to be my favorite gaming icon in the 7th generation of gaming.

Manly because Ezio wasn't trained as an Assassin from the beginning of his life. He learned all the tricks from the codex pages when he was 17 in 1476 and all the way to whatever he will learn in Revelations. He saw his father and brothers died right in front of him and took his revenge to every Templar who planned there deaths. He also flew in the Renaissance Era, thats freakin badass in my opinion.

Ezio started with nothing in Rome and started his own brotherhood to take down the corrupted Cesare Borgia from taking control of Rome and all of Italy too. Eventually Rome became peaceful thanks to Ezio. This Man's Story will have an end in Revelations, but he gave a whole new generation of gamers a reason to play the Epic game series that plays with history itself. He gave them all reasons to play Assassin's Creed.

Is anyone surprised by my choice, I am the 'self proclaimed #1 assassin's Creed fan of Gaming Union' it seemed obvious to me.

Edit: I wrote this post before reading the actual feature on the main page. I'm glad Ezio is up there but I'm sticking with my answer. I could say Desmond or Altair but they don't compare to Ezio in manliness in my opinion.

He's definitely high up on there. Anyone who can sport facial hair like that is a force to be reckoned with, but I'm pretty sure Cole Train takes it home for me.

I'd say Jim Raynor...that man is so damn awesome that he could easily take the title of 'Manliest Man'

I agree with Roxas21691, even in the other thread of manliest moment. I think Nathan Drake is the manliest man because he has the same level of BA'ery of all the other characters listed, but he also has a charm. He is a full character unlike many other characters listed where it is just their strength or combat value. It isn't until the very end of StarCraft II that i think Raynor is pretty cool, and his character has been around for like 12 years?
