While I don't see any reason not to revive the section, I don't see a reason that it be revived, either. Everybody knows the section would be inactive just as similar threads have been. It's not like the lack of a dedicated section for OST reviews has prevented them from being done. People just don't want to take the time to do them.

Also, the only people that would bother to review OSTs are the ones who really liked the OST. If you didn't like an OST, you'd never bother reviewing it as you simply don't care about it. Therefore, every single review would be highly positive, thereby voiding the section's intention. I mean, has anyone ever taken a youtube video's rating seriously?

Lastly, it's incredibly difficult to adequately review music. You think giving a number score to a game is difficult? Try music. There's a reason you never see number scores on paintings. All you can really do is do the same kind of thing GMFM is doing, which seems a bit redundant. It'd make more sense for people to actually start voting on OSTs for GMFM, and then commenting on the OST's respective episode.

One thing I would like to say is that. If people choose not to do it, then you don't have to take part. Simple as that. BUT, if we relaunch this, there is no reason why GMFM should not be re-started. Unfortunately, the podcast is out of my jurisdiction and up to the discretion of the podcast staff.

Plus, if people decide to set high scores to OST's they like, I fail to see why that is a bad thing. If people do reviews to OST's they like, they are inclined to take part in it and get the whole OST finished. But that's just me.

People suggest small OSTs like Flower, Rez or even Daytona USA. Oh Mega Man 2 is a good one too.

On some level, you're right in the sense that if someone is passionate about a soundtrack, they will be more inclined to see the review to the end.

However, a proper review requires the reviewer to remove themselves from those factors in order to give a fair and balanced decision. Darryl and I would disagree often on what we felt about an OST and at times, it was due to the fact that would were unable to remove our nostalgia goggles.

I'm not insinuating that everyone needs to be perfect, but reviewing favorites often times results in skewed scores.

In a way, even if there are skewed scores, it is grounds for discussion. People may disagree and point out why and analysis can be given from multiple points of view.

Of course, this is all dependant on people actually participating.

The threads for the previously started OSTs are still open.

If people want to participate, I suggest they start there. Tongue

I don't understand your point? Why not bother? Surely there's as much, if not more, incentive to finish something we've already started than to start new ones? Tongue

You have to remember that some people just mainly review their favourite tracks and have no intentions to review the other songs on the soundtrack.
