Which edition of XIII-2 should I go for?

Pre-order the Crystal Edition from somewhere else; forget the pre-order bonuses

I guess I'm in conflict over which option is the best to take, regarding the different special edition and pre-order bonuses that are available with Final Fantasy XIII-2. So if you could take a few moments to answer the poll, or maybe even provide your insight into the situation, that would be greatly appreciated. =)

Pre Order from somewhere else. I have written to Game about this and have ignored me so they have lost me as I would have wanted to get everything for this game especially as the novels are mostly Japan exclusive. I would recommend Play.com, they have pre-orders up for Crystal edition.

I imagine most of the DLC pre-order bonuses will be available later as paid DLC, so if that doesn't matter so much to you, I'd go with whichever one has the more collectible item (ie. the novella, but that's just me Tongue). If you love FFXIII and expect to love XIII-2 just as much, I'd go for the Crystal Edition, it's not that much more and it comes with a few nifty items.

I'm going to try and get the Cystal Edition if I can mainly for the Soundtrack bundled with it. If I can't get it, I'll just buy the Stand-Alone game because I don't want an incomplete soundtrack.

The fact that you didn't get a reply from GAME reassures me that they won't be getting any more stock, so thanks a lot for helping make my decision a lot easier! Smile
I probably will get it from Play.com, since they're probably my most trusted retailer left.

That's a good point. I guess it's really the Novella that I'm missing out on, since it's a toss up between whether I want that or the T-shirt more (since I could easily by the full soundtrack afterwards).
I guess I probably do love XIII enough to use your logic to get the Crystal Edition!

Same goes for me. I have a couple of samples from Dissidia and the original XIII, and in both cases I'll probably end up buying the full soundtrack eventually anyway.

Thank you everyone for helping me make my decision! Big Grin

EDIT: It seems the Cystal Editions are sold out everywhere I look. Sad
EDIT 2: ...except for HMV! =)

The game of the year edition which will include all DLC packs a year from now (this is a huge assumption such a package will exist but not an unrealistic one in my opinion). Buying the game at release and incrementally with regards to the DLC is too much of a high price for my liking.

Game of the Year editions are always nice in terms of saving money, but that's only really an option if you don't mind waiting a while for the edition to come out. Sad

Very true. In fact there are times when GOTY editions are not such a great idea, such as games where there is a huge online multiplayer element. However, for single player RPGs, I don't have an issue in waiting to play it later.

That's a good point. I guess having online multiplayer is a gift and a curse for games, since it can often feel like you're missing out on something a year/a few down the line when activity isn't nearly what it used to be when the game was first released.
Getting GOTY editions also depend on whether you want any of the special editions, although some do come with special extras besides DLC (like Arkham Asylum, which came with old-fashioned 3D glasses and allowed the whole game to be played in old-fashioned 3D Smile).
