I never had much of an affinity to this piece until I heard it live yesterday at the Royal Albert Hall. It just blew my mind and the organ solist did a brillant job. Seeing the video footage from Dissidia as the orchestra was playing this piece was epic.

Are you referring to the Distant Worlds concert in London? How'd that go?
On a note more relevant to this thread, what other tracks do you think sound better performed live?

Yes, it was the London concert last night. It was absolutely brillant and exceed all my expectations. There were a few moments that stuck with me;
- Arnie Roth announced that Distant Worlds will be returning to London Nov 17th 2012! So to those that missed it, there is another chance!
- Roth asked what they should do next year to celebrate Final Fantasy's 25th anniversary, and then as quick as a flash, someone at the back of the theatre shouted "remake final fantasy VII". It got laughs all round.
- Roth and Uematsu trolled us hard! The concert programme had a very notable absentee! "One Winged Angel" WASN'T listed. Everyone thought, what the... Only for Uematsu to join the choir at the end to sing the chorus of the piece at the end.
As for other pieces that sound better live, well here is my list;
- Clash on the Big Bridge - this has always been one of my favourites and to hear it live only cemented that sentiment.
- Kiss me Goodbye - Susan Calloway's rendition was very heart felt and it was the first time I heard an English version.
- Eyes on Me - Calloway again made this piece a treat.
To be honest, all the pieces will sound better live and the atmosphere was an experience to behold.

In that case, only one really comes to mind that blows my mind, and I consider it one of Nobuo Uematsu's, if not gaming in general, finest musical achievement. How unfortunate that it may fall in obscurity, considering the reception of the game it was written for...
"Answers" from Final Fantasy XIV
Uematsu's contribution to Final Fantasy is immeasurable, and while fan-classics like Eyes On Me, Melodies of Life, and To Zanarkand are no doubt a testament of the man's genius into invoking much emotion with his compositions, this piece blows everything else done by the renowned composer out of the water, and still sends chills down my spine in a way that that few songs have since One-Winged Angel.
Answers is both a powerful and solemn composition, part-hymn and part-anthem: foreboding and yet hopeful. And it's my favorite "song" from Final Fantasy.
As far as orchestral themes are considered, some personal favorites include Those Who Fight Further, One-Winged Angel, You Are Not Alone, and The Dark Messenger.
It can be any song, TheNinjaMax. This can be lyrical or non lyrical.
On the topic of your song choice, before you posted this, ive never heard of Answers. Id like to say its a pretty good song.
