That's exactly who I thought of, too. If there's anyone in Hollywood who knows anything about staying true to the original material, while still making a good film, it's Christopher Nolan.
(If anyone would like to see how true he stayed to the material, I'd recommend reading Batman: Year One, and comparing that to Batman Begins)

Sadly, I doubt it's possible to get Nolan on the project any time soon. He'll be directing the Dark Knight Rises until its release in 2012, and producing Man of Steel (a Superman reboot) until its release in 2013.
