What are you thought on this?

Do you think he's talking about Versus (which look like it would fit might fit in this category, since the gameplay looks like Kingdom Hearts), or do you think he's talking about FF15?

Personally, although I like Kingdom Hearts, and I'm sure I'll like Versus, I'm not sure I would like for the whole FF franchise to go to Action-RPG...

I like action rpgs from Square, but Kingdom Hearts already fills that niche for me right now.

I'd like to see a mainline Final Fantasy title with a more tactical approach, like Valkyria Chronicles. Tactical jrpgs are too far and between these days, but that is probably just because they don't sell big numbers abroad.

I personally couldn't say either way right now. I love the idea of an action RPG FF (which is one of the reasons Versus looks so sweet), but the battle system in FF XIII was one of the few things I really liked. At the end of the day, so long as the story and characters are really there I probably won't mind.

I agree. I cannot say what I want for the next Final Fantasy, seeing as I loved FFXIII's battle system and that was still turn-based. As long as Square comes up with something that is fun and works, it doesn't matter to me I guess.

Yes, KH fills that role IMO and Versus XIII already seems like an Action RPG.

I agree as well. In one way I'd really like it because I prefer action-RPGs but then again Final Fantasy is known[/align] for their turn-based battles so it would be sad to see it go for the upcoming main titles.

I would be fine with Versus being an action RPG. The combat in the trailer looks like the combat in 13 but with more flexibility and freedom which sounds great. I'm not sure I'd like the rest of the series to be action-oriented, but it could be fun to play as different roles in the series down the line if they do it well. I think a game where you can switch between party members like in 12 but have each of them play a distinct role like in 9 could be really fun. They said they wanted the combat in Fabula Nova Crystallis to resemble the combat seen in Advent Children. If they can really pull that off I think I'd be ok with it. It could open the door for fun co-op and online play opportunities. Everyone could experience the story at the same time but in combat you could play the warrior in the party and your friends could fill the roles of black mage healer, thief, dragoon etc. Similar to the two player seen in the re-release of VI but actually fun because it's an action rpg.
