Quote:The release of the PS3 was plagued by two things: the year head-start it gave Microsoft's Xbox 360 and its steep price. In an interview with Eurogamer, a PlayStation representative talked about the PS4 and the troubles it will try to side-step this time around.

Well the wii u has already been announced and looks great, so I'm thinking neither sony nor microsoft will get the head start.

If Sony announced the PS4 in 2012 they would be at a disadvantage. The migration from the PS2 to the PS3 will not be the same as the migration from the PS3 to the PS4. Sony has to be careful when bringing out a new console.

To me the next generation consoles for Sony and Microsoft will be more like an upgrade then a whole new console.

In any case, I hope they don't make the same mistake they did before and put it out at anything higher than 350. There's a line that they crossed insanely last time. While they shouldn't give it away, they shouldn't keep it from the masses either.

Where can they go from here? More power is always great, but PS4 can move them into the realm of more RAM, Cross game chat, Flash Memory Games, and Lower Load Times. All while keeping what made PS3 great like a Bluray drive and other media center experiences.

The Wii U isn't really 'next gen' as much as nintendo is just joining everyone else in this gen. Graphically I still don't think the Wii U will be competing with the ps3 or 360 at all and as an entertainment device the thing still can't play Blu Ray or even regular DVDs. It's almost as if you can count the Wii and almost the rest of nintendo as being in a market all their own, in terms of videogaming, which is why neither Sony nor Microsoft are hard pressed to compete with them.

I agree, I feel like Sony would just be better off waiting. I feel like they should stick with the PS3, and maybe just release a new ver. like one that actually reads PS2 disks without problems.
