There's simply no need for a new console. I feel at this point, the PS3 is just hitting its stride. Blu-ray's are now being released for almost every movie, developers are hitting peak performance with new games.

I was playing BF3 last night, and my wife (who is a simple, casual gamer at best) asked if I was watching a movie. I said "No... it's just Battlefield..." She replied, "They look so real!" My point being, there's new engines being developed every year; graphics are seeing a leap in performance from what we saw two years ago, and I feel we still have another two years before current consoles cease to see improvements.

Let's just hope my original CECHAxx 60 GB PS3 lasts until the next console release... *Fingers crossed*

If you think that a new hardware is just for graphics, you don't understand nothing about videogames.

Do you really believe that hardware is just for graphics? THIS IS MADNESS...
Another 2 years with PS3? For what?
Call of Duty MW "12"?
Killzone "More of the same" 4, Uncharted "More of the same" 4, Assassin's "More of the same" Creed... ecc?

We need new hardware, sure new Xbox... after 7 years (2012) WE NEED.

First off, if you could read what I wrote, my wife made that comment, not I. And like I said, she's a casual gamer at best; a few games on her iPhone, and a little bit of Mario. That's about it.

And there's no reason to insult anyone. Most of the people here understand the consoles, inside and out. If you have anything to backup your comments, please do so. But don't put down other posts without adding something substantial yourself.

For that being your first post, it wasn't a very good first impression...

Uhm... yes. Yes I do think console upgrades are mainly for the hardware. This whole conversation has been about the ps3 and by extension the 360. Now, question: What the hell do you think the biggest difference is between the ps2 and the ps3 as well as the xbox and the xbox360? The control scheme? LOL I LAUGH AT YOU IN BIG TEXT TOO I'M SO EDGY. The controller for the ps3 is identical to the controller for its predecessor, and pretty much the same can be said about the xbox. Move and Kinect are, what, a year old after what you pointed out was something like a 7 year life of this gen? Those systems weren't made for Kinect and Move they were made for what came bundled inside their casings on day one which was pixel pushing hardware so the developers can make bigger and better games. So yes, it is about the hardware for the ps3 and 360. Which remains the question of this topic; do we need new hardware? No, we don't.

Well, in order for software to improve, it does occasionally require better hardware. What needs to be determined is if new hardware would improve software enough to justify buying an entirely new console.
