I am a fan of the final fantasy series .. I have played 8,10,10-2,12, and DoC but I don't see the appeal in seven .The reason why this is so is because I hate games with poor graphics (ff7) I liked ten and eight but compared to now made me want to grit my teeth .

So what was so amazing about it?

Well, think about it. in 1997, people thought the graphics were amazing. It's kind of obvious that the graphics suck after looking at CG stuff. But man give it a break. that was 13 years ago. Who cares bout the graphics? It has an amazing storyline, probably FF's greatest character line up (closely followed by XIII which is followed a bit loosely by XII (I'm gonna get mauled for saying that rofl)) and the movie... gosh those graphics were amazing and it had a fun story and an epic battle scene (even more epic in Complete). and look at Tifa in ACC -whistles- amazing. Try the whole game and then reconsider

It had really good graphics for when it came out, tons and tons of story and backstory, realyl detailed characters,fun gameplay, comdey and seriousness, and lots of stuff to do besides the story line. What's not to love?

and just what do you consider poor graphics? Do you consider Final Fantasy 6 to have poor graphics? Do you consider Super Mario Bros. 3 to have poor Graphics? I'm just rather curious at this point, as people are spoiled on graphics now-a-days. I've seen people who are willing to sacrifice gameplay for graphics...

Oh dear. You may have walked into the Final Fantasy VI lions den here lol.
This is the main reason FF VI fans HATE all the attention VII has - because VI's graphics are still 2D so people just disregard it straight away instead of giving it a try.
I guess it all depends on your age. If you grew up with NES, SNES, Megadrive, PSone etc. then VII's graphics were good at it's time of release.
However, if you are trying to play VII now when you've played FF X, I can understand your issue with graphics. They haven't aged well at all.

To me though, graphics are a nice addition, but are completely meaningless when I compare it to storyline or gameplay.

Don't hate games with poor graphic.I had finished FF X-2 then played FF6 without any problem. The story, characters, battle sytem....are what kept me playing FF 6 not the graphic.

*cough, cough* (about the age, well...:o)

I remember stating something about FF VI not having good graphics, and surely, compared to today's new games, they probably don't. Yet it's my favourite FF of all I've played SO FAR, 6-10, 12, 13, CC. And that's to do with the characters, storyline and gameplay. You just have to love Kefka. Sephy just isn't a match for him.

I hope there is actually going to be a re-make, just so people put off by the original graphics can enjoy the great story and world that FFVII has to offer. The game is still playable in my opinion and since it was released onto the PSP, it's portability makes it so much better.

But if graphics truly are a problem then why not just try out Crisis Core on the PSP, it's a great game in the same world as FFVII.
