Reviews Round-Up (Nier, SSFIV, Monster Hunter Tri and More)

It appears as though we skipped a week, but never fear, as the Reviews Round-Up is back, ready to summarise an action packed week, which saw some top quality releases across numerous platforms.

It was a big week for Capcom, with both Monster Hunter Tri and Super Street Fighter IV launching. However, there were some other titles from Square Enix, Atlus USA and NIS America which definitely deserve the credit they're receiving.

Nier (PS3, Xbox 360)
Nier is definitely a title that probably flew under the radar for quite a lot of people, especially with some of the other games Square Enix has floating around. It focuses on the journey of Nier, a dishevelled man who's desperately searching for a cure to his daughter's illness. He battles against countless enemies, called Shades, as he looks to accomplish this task in what can only be described as a great addition to the Action RPG genre.

Monster Hunter Tri (Nintendo Wii)
For the third iteration of Capcom's hugely successful Monster Hunter franchise, the Wii was chosen as its destination. Many questioned the decision, but they certainly can't question the results. Bringing new weapons, locations and challenges, Monster Hunter Tri certainly lives up to the hype. It's also capable of four-player action, which is always a plus.

Trauma Team (Nintendo Wii)
The latest title in Atlus' Trauma Center franchise, Trauma Team looks to expand the tried and tested formula. Instead of players taking on the role of a super doctor, they now take on a whole team - each with their own specialist area. It makes the whole scenario seem much more plausible and makes the story a lot more interesting. There's also some fun co-op play.

Super Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360)
Street Fighter IV couldn't have gone better for Capcom, as it really revitalised a sleeping giant. A year on, they've decided to reinforce this by releasing Super Street Fighter IV with the hope of improving the game, in terms of offering and balancing. There are some new characters, new modes and some good refinements - everything that's necessary to make a great game even greater.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (PS3, Xbox 360)
With the 2010 World Cup only weeks away, EA Sports have decided to release their game to accompany the biggest single-sporting event on the planet. Despite the last FIFA iteration only coming out six months ago, this installment actually adds quite a lot, as the focus is really towards international football and the spectacle that is, the World Cup.

What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? 2 (PS3, Xbox 360)
It seems as though Badman is quite a popular guy - so popular that NIS America had to remove his name from the title. Oh well, at least they've still been able to release a follow-up to last year's title. The basic premise of the game is the same, but some of the original's niggling complaints have been fixed and it's actually a much longer game this time around. Definitely one for old school SRPG fans to enjoy.
