Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Theme Song Won't Be Traditional
PS3 X360 0 CommentsSquare Enix has declared that Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII won't be having a traditionally styled theme song.
The news came from the official Lightning Returns Twitter account, where they were talking about the Lightning Returns soundtrack going into mastering. It was stated that unlike previous games, where we've had main theme such as Melodies of Life, Suteki da Ne and more recently Yakusoku no Basho (in Final Fantasy XIII-2), Lightning Returns will instead focus on more of a musical score for the theme.
This might be seen as a disappointment for some, as the vocal tracks are often some of the most memorable and loved in the Final Fantasy franchise. However, following the arrival of Leona Lewis in Final Fantasy XIII, their role in the Final Fantasy series has been somewhat diminished and Final Fantasy XIII-2 included numerous vocal tracks scattered throughout the soundtrack.
The Lightning Returns soundtrack is being composed by the same team who worked on Final Fantasy XIII-2. This means Masashi Hamauzu will be working on his third Final Fantasy XIII title and he's joined by Naoshi Mizuta and Mitsuto Suzuki.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases this month in Japan on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. It's releasing in North America and Europe next February.
