Major Changes Coming to Zelda Wii, Miyamoto Says

Major Changes Coming to Zelda Wii, Miyamoto Says According to a recent interview with the German gaming website Gaming Media, it appears that Nintendo is working on making the upcoming The Legend of Zelda game for the Wii easier to play compared to previous outings in the franchise.

The next title in the long-running The Legend of Zelda franchise was revealed near the end of E3 2009, with only a single piece of concept artwork being released, with the company stating recently that a more proper reveal would be taking place at E3 2010, which takes places next month.

According to Miyamoto, when Nintendo usually makes their games, they create a demo movie and expand upon those ideas. But for the next Zelda, they created the game mechanics then made a demo video from that. This signals part of their change for the title, which stems away from the fairly predictable formula used since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which Miyamoto claims is "complicated". By "creating a new way to play the game", Miyamoto says they are "trying to make Zelda, which has become very complicated, easier to play".

These statements, when contrasted against Miyamoto's earlier comments about the game not being "radically different" from previous titles shortly after E3 2009, show that the game has undergone a radical change in just the past year, so it should be interesting to see what Nintendo has in store for the game's public unveiling.
