Ubisoft has today announced that the next Assassin's Creed installment will feature multiplayer. The company, in a call to investors, also revealed that the game would be set in Rome, continuing the story of Assassin's Creed 2 protagonist Ezio. This new game, Ubisoft confirmed, is not connected to the downloadable content for Assassin's Creed 2.
Not too much specific information was divulged on the multiplayer other than it will pit friends against each other in some assassination mode. The company said it is standard policy for games to release with at least cooperative multiplayer, but would not confirm if this meant Assassin's Creed would also feature cooperative play.
In other news, Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed 2 has sold 8 million units to date so it's not surprising the franchise is getting new installments.
