Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield 1943 - the downloadable, online shooter released last July for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network - has sold one million units on XBLA alone. According to the company, Battlefield 1943 reached the million sales mark faster than any other game on XBLA. Sales figures for the PSN version were not disclosed.
In a statement, the game's producer, Gordon Van Dyke, remarked that "[Battlefield 1943] has set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category." He added, "it's fantastic to see how gamers have recognized the value that the game delivers for just $15. It is another great entry point into the Battlefield franchise."
The PC version of Battlefield 1943 has been delayed several times, but EA assured fans it will "soon also be available."
