Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XIII has managed to ship around 5 million units worldwide. This comes after North American and European shipments totalled 3 million, which are combined with the 2 million already shipped in Japan.
It's important to note though, that this is shipped, not sold. It simply states how many copies were produced and sold to retailers, not how many are in the hands of consumers. These figures do mean that the Final Fantasy franchise is edging ever closer to the 100 million units shipped mark, with the figure currently sitting at 96 million.
There's currently no word on a split between the consoles, but this will surely be announced at some point in the next few weeks for North America at least.
