Brand new details and images have surfaced on Lara Croft's next adventure. Amusingly enough, while Lara will still be traversing through tombs, the downloadable game from Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamics will not have Tomb Raider in it's title.
According to GameSpot, the game no longer follows the route of traditional Tomb Raider games and is instead implementing a top-down camera approach à la Dungeon Siege and Diablo. Lara herself will be accompanied by a spear-toting Mayan warrior to tackle all manner of creatures and puzzles as they fight their way through tombs and whatnot to defeat an evil spirit called Xoxolt.
However, the emphasis seems not to be on the story but more on the gameplay, with a heavy focus on replayability and co-op in the style of ye good ol' arcade days, minus the tokens and quarters. Players will be able to play together both locally and online. There's also a single player mode for the soloists out there.
More of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be showed behind closed doors at this year's Game Developers Conference on March 9.
