Sega has officially confirmed that its newest sci-fi shooter, Vanquish, will see a release date sometime around Winter 2010. Although vague, it does give a rough time frame for this new shooter from the creator of Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami.
For those unaware of what this new game is (which is probably mostly everyone), Vanquish is a new third-person shooter which takes place in the future, where resources have run out and the US has begun harvesting solar power from space. The only problem is that some big bad Russians have come along, captured this solar facility, and blew a big hole in San Francisco. Now the Americans have suited up a "task force" to take back this massive solar space station.
It's a pretty cool premise with some inventive ideas, but let's hope the gameplay itself can stand up to the challenge as well as being in a prime season for other big name games.
