Sony Acquires LittleBigPlanet Developer

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that the company has purchased Media Molecule, the British development behind the critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet, for an undisclosed sum. The announcement was made by Michael Denny, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Studios Europe, on the PlayStation Blog.

According to Denny, "Media Molecule have exciting projects in the pipeline and we're looking forward to sharing these with you in the not too distant future." Possibly another reveal at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) later this month; LittleBigPlanet was originally unveiled at GDC in 2007. He Continued, "welcoming Media Molecule into the PlayStation family will allow us to better support their future titles and ambitions... I have no doubt that this will mark the beginning of an even more exciting relationship with Media Molecule for the future."

Media Molecule continue to support LittleBigPlanet with weekly downloadable content, which includes new costumes, levels and items.
