Ubisoft is aware they've "lost so many Prince of Persia players to God of War," but believes the next installment in the Prince of Persia series, The Forgotten Sands, will draw some players back. Speaking with CVG, Ubisoft Animation Director Jan-Erik Sjovall has stated that players miss the challenge and brutality from previous PoP games.

"When we make questionnaires and we ask, 'what did you play in the past?' The answer's 'Prince of Persia'. 'What do you play now?' 'God of War'. 'Would you play Prince of Persia again?' 'No, it's not hard enough'," said Sjovall. He added, "the idea [with Forgotten Sands] was clearly that we'd try to bring our old audience back, but also we're winning a new audience." The Forgotten Sands will put a greater emphasis on gore but will "not indulge in the violence like God of War does."

The Forgotten Sands is scheduled for a May 18th and 20th release in North America and Europe, respectively, on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
