Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has now reached global sales of over 5 million units, and to celebrate, DICE is launching a online game mode, titled "Onslaught". This new mode will be an online 4 player co-op mode featuring 4 re-worked maps for the mode that include new lighting and time of day effects.

This new Onslaught mode will work in a similar sense to Horde mode from Gears of War 2, with objectives laying out in a way probably reminiscent of Left 4 Dead. 4 players will fight cooperatively through maps full of AI enemies to complete team-based objectives together. The experience earned in this mode will also count to the online character ranking system as well.

It's nice to see Bad Company 2 getting continued support like this as well, and it goes to show that Modern Warfare 2 isn't the only shooter out there that can compete. Players can expect this mode to be hitting PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the near future, though no plans were revealed to state whether or not this new mode will be coming to PC as well. Hopefully they don't forget about the PC crowd.
