Square Enix has released information on their sales for the last fiscal year, with welcoming sales to the Final Fantasy series. The declining sales of the main Final Fantasy titles may be taking a turn for the better for Square Enix since Final Fantasy XIII has sold over 5.5 million units as of March 31, 2010.
With sales of Final Fantasy XII at around 5.69 million according to VGChartz, XIII is climbing fast and will most likely surpass the sales of its predecessor by the end of the year, breaking the declining sales curse that has burdened the series since Final Fantasy VII.
Could this turn of events be cause by releasing the game on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360? If this is the case, which seems most likely, will the possibility of individual platform releases for upcoming Final Fantasies change?
