President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata has stated that the 3DS may include its very own video chat feature. Not only would it be a video chat though, it could also take advantage of the 3D screen and cameras to actually have conversations over the units in 3D.
In an interview with Forbes, Iwata stated, "Technologically speaking, a variety of different things are possible with the 3DS, for example, 3D video chat."
Though at the moment the 3D chat doesn't seem all that feasible since the camera is on the other side of the screen, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, has also stated the 3DS is still a concept and could be changed before its final release.
This could be pretty groundbreaking tech if we do see it come to fruition. This could stir things up a bit, especially since Apple has been pushing their video chat service on the new iPhone 4. Of course it's a little bit of a different market, but 3D video chat could be a pretty big selling point.
