Konami's head of product planning, Dave Cox, just recently revealed in an interview with CVG that the main man in the latest Castlevania reboot, Lords of Shadow, needs to tone down on the testosterone in order to appeal to the mainstream market.
"Castlevania had a quite Japan-centric look and feel to it and was appealing to a very small audience of people - it wasn't breaking out there. Japan's brief to us was to make it more mainstream, make it more Western, which is what we did."
Cue in Hideo Kojima! While he does believe that the story is "quite moving," the game requires a much more every man in order to convey that effectively and not some "muscle head type character."
