You may have heard about the $149.99 price tag on Microsoft's Kinect device that has been seen everywhere including Microsoft's own online store. As it turns out, Microsoft has done some damage control and has also updated their online store page regarding the price as a "placeholder" with an official price yet to be announced.
Stephen Toulouse, Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox Live, has stated via Twitter that, "All prices now no matter what the retail source are placeholders. We've not announced. :>," clarifying even the Microsoft online store that it sourced.
We came oh so close to having a solid price point, and for all we know, this still could end up as the final price for the unit since rumours also tell us that the unit costs about $149.99 to manufacture. Whatever the case, that price can't go any higher than $149.99, or else Microsoft may just have a very hard time selling the unit.
