Sega announced today that Sonic Free Riders will be making its debut in the holiday season exclusively for the new Microsoft Kinect.
Sonic Free Riders is set to offer players " an extreme fast-paced boarding game" as well as it taking full advantage of the Microsoft Kinect functionality. Players will be able to twist and turn their way through a selection of courses with help from the full-motion body control found only on Kinect.
Another great feature of this hardware is that with the aid of the unique motion sensor, players will be able to race on customised hoverboards and have a choice of classic Sonic characters or their own Avatars to race with. The races themselves will be played by shaking, twisting and turning to use items and navigate through each race to ensure victory.
"This is a whole new way to play as Sonic! By providing a complete level of freedom, movement and ease of play, Kinect for Xbox 360 and Sonic Free Riders ensures the entire family can enjoy the thrill of racing as if they were actually on their hover boards." commented Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA America and SEGA Europe.
Hopefully the announcements of Sonic Colours and Sonic Free Riders will not distract Sega too much from the game everyone hopes will deliver a true Sonic experience, Sonic 4.
