At today's E3 2010 Nintendo press conference, Shigeru Miyamoto unveiled the new Zelda title coming to the Wii system. Zelda: Skyward Sword, is the first true Wii remote based title and will also integrate the Wii Motion Plus to use the sword in a more 1:1 motion to sword fight.
The tech initially looks like that of the swordplay in Wii Sports Resort with the use of the Motion Plus adaptor. The main remote will also have a quick item select in order to pull up bombs or potions. There are also lots of new ways to use the remote in order to shoot arrows or throw bombs.
Using the full Wii remote capabilities, it seems pretty obvious that this will be the first true Wii Zelda to offer full functionality of the controls available. The nunchuck will also be used to operate the shield as well as being used for walking.
Though the conference gameplay was a little buggy, Miyamoto said that the game is not actually this glitchy and interference was the cause for the trouble. Miyamoto has also said that the game will function normally when shown on the game floor. Zelda: Skyward Sword is set for a tentative release sometime in 2011.
