Up until now, Atlus's Japanese has been reluctant to release HD titles, with their only HD titles being publishing agreements with other developers such as Demon's Souls with their North America branch. That changes as of today, as Atlus has announced their first HD tile: Catherine.
The game was revealed in this week's issue of Famitsu. Catherine is an action/adventure game with a horror side that is intended for adults. The premise of the game is a man named Vincent who wakes up every night from his dreams. Katsura Hashino, the director of Persona 4, is the producer/director of Catherine. Shigenori Soejima is the character designer and Shoji Meguro is the game's composer.
Vincent may sound familiar to those who played Persona 3 Portable, which added in the character in the game's nightclub. While there are some minor differences, the design of the character and his details seem to match up with the hints dropped in the game.
Catherine is set for a Winter 2010 release in Japan on the Xbox 360 and PS3. No Western release of the game has been announced.
