Kaz Hirai has never been one to shirk away from a challenge, but his reason claim is certainly an interesting one. He's stated that his ambition is for the PS3 to sell more than the PS2 did.
"The high point, looking back at our console business, has been PS2," he said when speaking to MCV.
"For PS3, that is one level of success we'd like to emulate and hopefully surpass at the end of the ten-year lifecycle."
PS3 sales this year are already up by 57% compared to last year, and if Sony can continue that kind of momentum, who knows. Anything's possible, right?
