It's about time we kick this revolution into overdrive - Jim Raynor

Seems like that's not all that was kicked into overdrive. It appears that Blizzard's RTS behemoth is enjoying some incredible sales, it managed to sell 1.8 million copies on D-Day worldwide. However, StarCraft II has outsold the original StarCraft in just a matter of days since release, at least in the UK according to Industry Gamers.

While the original StarCraft was a critically acclaimed PC game, it did have a rocky start. Eventually it became one of the best games in the industry and is still played until this day. Perhaps not so much anymore thanks to its sequel (see: review).

The sales charts only display physical retail copies and do not include digital purchases. It's quite an amazing feat what StarCraft II has managed, beating sales of the original that took years to accumulate in just a matter of days with an estimated sales of $350 million in the UK alone.
