For years, Pro Evolution Soccer was regarded as the premium footballing experience on a console, with FIFA clinging onto its licence and constantly playing catch-up.
However, in the last two years that has all changed. FIFA has returned to the forefront and it's now PES that's the underdog and EA expect to increase their new-found domination.
"Over the last couple of years, FIFA has been an excellent performer and we continue to grow market share over Konami," said Jens Uwe Intant, EA's senior European VP
"It also shows that our products do get better "“ FIFA's Metacritic scores keep going up. We have a clearly superior product over Konami, which we did not have in the last generation."
This year, Konami are really trying to shake things up as their game offers a very different experience from previous years. Will it be enough to close the gap, or will EA, as they expect, increase it?
