As if there wasn't enough video game movies in the world, producer Mark Johnson (Chronicles of Narnia) is teaming up with producer Hunt Lowry (A Time to Kill) and also the Mysteria Film group to bring the well known PC game series, Myst, to the big screen.
Mysteria Film Group hopes that with Johnson's influence he could help create a successful narrative for this very atmospheric game much like he did with the Chronicles of Narnia realm. The movie team also hopes to incorporate the game's tie-in novels as inspiration.
"One focus of the film will be the influence of a human who entered Myst and inadvertently brought down the civilization," reports Deadline.
"Our aim with this project is to stretch the genres it operated within, much like the source material did," Mysteria's Adrian Vanderbosch told Deadline. "It is such an innovative property and by utilizing the novels as our primary resource, we have the opportunity to offer audiences the essence of Myst without being limited only to the famous island of the first game. Our focus has always been on creating an entirely new visual experience driven by engaging characters and an epic narrative."
