Insomniac Games have extended their development cycle, meaning instead of pushing for a game a year, they now utilize a full extra 12 months of development time. To Insomniac, the move to a two year cycle is "music to [their] ears."
"Many of us now have children, and the reality of game development is that we need to maintain the quality, so something else had to change," said creative director Marcus Smith in an interview with gaming magazine GamesTM.
"Extending the development cycle was the way to go. It was something we were discussing from the very beginning."
Resistance 3 was first announced at Gamescom and is slated for a 2011 release exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
