Following their release, the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS had flickering support, with many patches without any games released at all.
It's not something that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata wants to repeat with the Nintendo 3DS, as he told Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai:
"With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We're making plans so that this type of thing won't happen."
Good news for gamers.
