Since its release, the Dead Island trailer garnered a whopping three million views in just a matter of days. On top of that, it has reportedly been tweeted for about the same amount as well. The CGI trailer portrays an unsuspecting family being ganked by zombies on a holiday island resort.
"We knew that we had something very unique with this trailer and we are very pleased by the positive feedback we received from the reveal of Dead Island and its trailer," says Georg Larch, international marketing director of Deep Silver. "The trailer conveys the mood that the player will experience when his or her in-game character arrives on the island and the picturesque holiday paradise suddenly turns into hell."
The trailer has caused a bit of a stir, with some praising it for its "emotional" value while others cry foul, saying the trailer goes too far. In any case, it's a hot topic right now, regardless of lack of actual gameplay.
