It's been said before by EA that if someone's going to "kill" the Call of Duty franchise, it's not going to be by copying, but by making a better shooter and that point's been reinforced yet again, this time by Battlefield 3 game designer Alan Kertz.

As reported by VG247, Kertz said that "you don't kill CoD by trying to be CoD. You kill CoD by making a better shooter."

In addition, Kertz also noted a couple of details on Battlefield 3 during a Twitter Q&A session with the fans, including:

  • The ability to prone.

  • Destruction, vehicles and visual quality is of important to DICE.

  • BF3 is using an upgraded FOV system from Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2.

  • There is a limited edition for console versions.

  • Tehran is confirmed as one of the locales.

  • Unlikely for there to be a server browser on console version, so no 64 player matches there.

Expect an proper announcement and reveal around GDC. DICE released the Battlefield 3 teaser trailer a couple of days ago, be sure to check it out.
