New footage of Battlefield 3 was shown at the Chicago Entertainment Expo, with a new melee combat system unveiled as well as the announcement and confirmation that the console versions will be getting scaled maps to keep things consistent.
The new combat system was demoed, showcasing a variety of close quarters combat moves outside of the standard issued bayonet and combat knife. Players can punch with both hands and even perform grabs and throws on enemies.
According to DICE, while the PC version will enjoy massive 64 player supported maps, the console versions will be scaled down to suit 24 players in order to keep the chaos and action consistent. However, jet fighters will have access to the larger map, regardless of zones being blocked out for infantry units.
