Codemasters has decided to ditch PvP with Operation Flashpoint: Red River in favour of 4-player co-operation action and they believe that many people underestimate just how big it can be. They also believe that the big titles in the genre are causing fatigue.

When speaking to us at a recent event, Sion Lenton, the creative director on Red River, said: "I think it's going to be big, co-op. I think people underestimate it really.

"There's a little bit of genre fatigue coming in now with these big games where you're just playing against a bunch of strangers and you've got some 13-year old German kid screaming about what he's going to do to your mother when he finishes the game, and all this kind of stuff," he continued.

You can check out our impressions of Red River's PvE modes in our recent preview of the game.
