Speaking bold words, Lionhead's Peter Molyneux believes that this generation has yet to see the best the Xbox 360 has to offer. His main points being that with every generation, developers continue to grow more efficient, outputting some impressive stuff - as witnessed before at the latter bit of the PS2's life cycle.
He notes that he is not privy to any inside information, but predicts that we'll be seeing some mighty impressive stuff from Microsoft, especially now that Kinect is out on the market.
"I'm not party to any decision on the hardware side - just to be clear," Molyneux said. "There's two bits of me that think about this. One side is the teccy bloke who loves new gadgets [and wants to see new consoles], and the other side is the practical voice. One thing's for absolutely sure - I think there's still amazing things to be gained out of the current Xbox 360 generation that's just going to completely blow us all away. It's going to get even better.
"That's true of every generation and I really think it's true with 360. As you get through the lifecycle of these machines, stuff just keeps getting better and better. And now we've got stuff like Kinect, it's going to be even more different.
"I can't predict how long these lifecycles will be, but I know that all of us in the industry we actually don't like it very much when the hardware changes. It's a very unsettling time. You're just gnashing your teeth.
"There's always the same thing, when the hardware people may or may not make the machine that may or may not make your life insanely hard or insanely easy. It's a big messy time. It will be very interesting which one out of Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony will break ranks first."
