Sony Computer Entertainment have announced that upcoming off-road racer Motorstorm Apocalypse has been delayed in Japan, indefinitely, for obvious reasons. A massive quake had hit Japan this past Friday, March 11.

Motorstorm Apocalypse (Motorstorm 3 in Japan) takes the brutal off-road Motorstorm racing event to a city amidst destruction. Out of respect for the recent tragedy in Japan, the game will not launch on its penned March 17 release date. It is not confirmed if other regions will be affected as well.

"In times like these, we are reminded of how important and fragile we are and of the positive impact we can have "“ both as individuals and, collectively, as a company "“ to assist those in need," said Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer. "We will continue to make the utmost effort to help the swift recovery of the affected communities in the region."

Sony has also established a Disaster Relief Fund, pledging 300 million yen to relief efforts. The Red Cross and multiple other donation services are accepting donations, head over to Charity Navigator for a list of organizations if you wish to make a donation.
