David Coombes has dispelled rumours that the NGP's processor can rival that of the PlayStation 3 during Sony's session at the Game Developers Conference 2011.

Coombes, who is a platform research manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America, stated that although the NGP has a high-end processor that's theoretically a beast, it will have to be dialled down considerably.

"Some people in the press have said wow, this thing... could be as powerful as PS3. Well, it's not going to run at 2GHz because the battery would last five minutes," he said. "And it would probably set fire to your pants."

He also mentioned that games will be a maximum of 4GB, and will come in 2GB and 4GB variants at retail.
